Sockeye Salmon

 

Sockeye Salmon, also known as red salmon. This species of salmon runs the longest of the three species that belong to the Copper River. Beginning in mid May and running into August. The name Red Salmon comes from the salmons vibrant red flesh, and also the bright red color it turns when reaching its spawning grounds.

Great grilled, pan seared, smoked, steaked, baked ,blackened, in sushi, and salmon chowder,   very robust flavor with oily red flesh, a family favorite.
