Also known as red salmon, both for its bright red flesh, and the deep red color it turns when it reaches its home spawning grounds. This salmon is full of flavor and very nice on the plate. The Copper River run timing is from about mid May through July. These fish are available based on fishing openers and catch numbers. These are the primary target spieces on The Copper River Flats. These beautiful fish average about five and a half pounds and are handled carefully, also live bled and slush iced. I hand select the nicest fish from my catch to deliver to fresh markets. They are priced according to the price recieved on the grounds which starts highest with the first fish caught, then drops steadily as the season progresses. The price usually reaches a point were it remains by mid June.
